EarBuds Podcast Collective: *David’s Favs*

How EarBuds Podcast Collective works: Each week, a theme is chosen by one of our curators. That curator finds 5 podcast episodes (from anywhere!) to go along with that theme. Listen to these podcasts by clicking on the links above, through the RadioPublic app, or you can find (most of) them on your favorite podcast app (iTunes, Stitcher, Overcast…)

PODCAST CURATOR’S NAME: David Schwartzbaum, actor, improviser, and Bar Mitzvah tutor extraordinaire

WHY THIS THEME?: David’s just a regular liberal coastal elite, trying to make it as an actor in Los Angeles. This list is for his friends. His enemies can listen to Joe Rogan.

MONDAY: Dan Le Betard Show – Hour 1: Pauly Shore  – 31 minutes

Yes. It’s one of the most popular sports podcasts ever. But it’s that good. Weaving together sports commentary, pop culture, and outright foolishness, this show proudly takes up three hours of my day every single day.

TUESDAY: Marty and Sarah Love Wrestling – Brad to the Brone – 62 minutes

You don’t need to love or even know anything about wrestling to appreciate this couple talk about pop culture and their own lives through the prism of wrestling.

WEDNESDAY: Cults  The Narcosatanists – Adolfo de Jesús Constanzo – 56 minutes

This deep dive into one of the most grotesque and vile cults in history makes me feel mildly better about my own life.

THURSDAY: Filmspotting – First Man / Top 5 Movie Flights – 105 minutes

Weekly movie reviews, weekly silly-but-serious top five lists about film and movie marathons. I’ve learned more about movies from this podcast than I have from being in them. The hosts are snooty reviewers, but they know it and embrace it. Looking forward to the day when they tear me apart for my performance in the remake of “Paul Blart Mall Cop.”

FRIDAY: Adam Sandler Please Stop – Coneheads (Chris Farley Thank God) –51 minutes

These two hosts are slogging through Adam Sandler and his friends’ entire filmography. Half comedy and half sheer 90’s nostalgia, there’s something so wonderfully pleasant in remembering how bad “Little Nicky” was.

SHAMELESS PROMO: David’s just a dude trying to make it in LA. Throw him a bone here!

Arielle Nissenblatt

Arielle is the founder and lead curator at EarBuds Podcast Collective, a listening movement started in January 2017. EarBuds sends out a weekly email with a theme and 5 podcast episodes on that theme, each week curated by a different person from within the Collective! Anyone can sign up to curate a list, as we hope that we'll explore topics that we wouldn't have come across on our own. We are expanding the movement, and we now produce and execute storytelling shows in cities throughout the U.S. on the theme *listening.*
