EarBuds Podcast Collective: *Life in the Grey*

How EarBuds Podcast Collective works: Each week, a theme is chosen by one of our curators. That curator finds 5 podcast episodes (from anywhere!) to go along with that theme. Listen to these podcasts by clicking on the links above, through the RadioPublic app, or you can find (most of) them on your favorite podcast app (iTunes, Stitcher, Overcast…)

PODCAST CURATOR’S NAME: Skye Wilson

WHY THIS THEME?: In 1stGens, my co-host and I recount growing up as first-generation Liberian-Americans and talk to other 1stGens about their experiences balancing two distinct cultures. There are many ways folks live in the grey, and the episodes here are an exploration of some of them.

SHAMELESS PROMO: My co-host and I recently visited Liberia, our parents’ nation of origin. Postwar, the country is in need of resources and rejuvenation; education is the first step. The Keep Our Girls in School Initiative is doing just that, and they are in need of funding. Help rebuild a nation. To hear more about our trip, check out our five-part season finale.

CROWDSOURCING QUESTION: What have you been dying to know about bicultural folks? What are some pressing topics we should be addressing?

HASHTAG FOR DISCUSSION: #FirstGeneration

Arielle Nissenblatt

Arielle is the founder and lead curator at EarBuds Podcast Collective, a listening movement started in January 2017. EarBuds sends out a weekly email with a theme and 5 podcast episodes on that theme, each week curated by a different person from within the Collective! Anyone can sign up to curate a list, as we hope that we'll explore topics that we wouldn't have come across on our own. We are expanding the movement, and we now produce and execute storytelling shows in cities throughout the U.S. on the theme *listening.*
