EarBuds Podcast Collective: *Memory*

How EarBuds Podcast Collective works: Each week, a theme is chosen by one of our curators. That curator finds 5 podcast episodes (from anywhere!) to go along with that theme. Listen to these podcasts by clicking on the links above, through the RadioPublic app, or you can find (most of) them on your favorite podcast app (iTunes, Stitcher, Overcast…)

PODCAST CURATOR’S NAME: Alex Mullen

WHY THIS THEME?: I grew interested in memory and learning several years ago before getting involved in memory competitions. There are some crazy things people can do with their brains.

MONDAY: TED Radio Hour – Memory Games – 53 minutes

TUESDAY: Radiolab – Limits of the Mind – 19 minutes

WEDNESDAY: The Tim Ferriss Show Ed Cooke, Grandmaster of Memory, on Mental Performance, Imagination, and Productive Mischief – 73 minutes

THURSDAY: A Better Life with Sanjay Gupta– Memory Palace – 30 minutes

FRIDAY: Becoming SuperHuman – USA Memory Champion Nelson Dellis on Memory, Tenacity, and Conquering Anything – 42 minutes

SHAMELESS PROMO: I got involved in memory competitions several years ago and have been fortunate to win three world memory championships. I’ve taken some of the techniques applied by competitive memorizers and transitioned them for use in practical learning (e.g., in medical school). My wife and I created a nonprofit, Mullen Memory, where we share our experiences using memory techniques for medicine and other things.

CROWDSOURCING QUESTION: What’s the weirdest thing you’ve memorized?

HASHTAG FOR DISCUSSION:#Memory

Arielle Nissenblatt

Arielle is the founder and lead curator at EarBuds Podcast Collective, a listening movement started in January 2017. EarBuds sends out a weekly email with a theme and 5 podcast episodes on that theme, each week curated by a different person from within the Collective! Anyone can sign up to curate a list, as we hope that we'll explore topics that we wouldn't have come across on our own. We are expanding the movement, and we now produce and execute storytelling shows in cities throughout the U.S. on the theme *listening.*
