5 Fun Fact Podcasts That Will Make You A Know-It-All

Hey everybody! It’s Jill from PodcastMind, and I dig through as many podcasts as I can to bring you the best of the best. My goal is to help you find great listens that you otherwise would have scrolled past and missed out on.

That brings me to today’s topic that I selfishly chose, because I personally love learning new things. Especially if what I’m learning includes fun facts that I can share with literally anyone who’ll give me the time of day.

Not only is having a brain stockpiled with fun facts great as an icebreaker for introducing yourself to new people, but you’ll always have something to add to those awkward silences! Check out these examples:

“How’s it going? Did you know that dogs can smell happiness?”

“Hey, I’m Jill. Did you know that some animals have detachable sex organs?”

See what I mean? It’s a win-win.

So let’s dive into some of the best fun fact podcasts, and why you should be adding them to your queue!

The Weirdest Thing I Learned This Week:  Have you learned any new, super interesting and kind of weird things to share with your friends this week? If you tune into PopSci’s podcast, you’ll fall down a rabbit hole of strange happenings and facts that you can fascinate/disturb all of your friends with! The hosts are Popular Science editors, who at the start of each episode offer small pieces of the story they dug up. They then decide on the one they want to hear about first, and then at the end of the episode, they vote for what they thought actually was the weirdest thing they learned that week.  This is one of my new favorite podcasts, and I think you’ll be a fan of it too.

No Such Thing as a Fish: This is a fun and addictive British podcast that is brought to us by researchers from Quite Interesting LTD. Every week, the researchers gather the most interesting facts, and then they meet to share and discuss their findings. It’s really funny and entertaining, and you’re learning while you’re listening. That’s a win in my book, and why I regularly tune into this podcast. I find it really good for road trips, because it’s a good mixture of comedy and random facts, so it makes longer trips much more interesting.

Curiosity Daily: This podcast will help you learn about the world around you, where episodes are short little knowledge bursts that are released every day. The hosts pick three different “curiosities” that can cover a vast array of topics that include culture, space, biology, psychology or health, and they relate it back to why it could be important or helpful to you. I’ve really been enjoying the things I’ve been learning from this podcast, and really recommend it to people who are short on time. Satisfy your curiosity with this awesome podcast!

This Week I Learned: Brought to us by The Week, this is another podcast whose episodes are a quick listen, but it’s full to the brim with fun facts, studies and other interesting things found on the internet. I really like this one, because it’s jam packed full of the most random but fascinating information. It’s also perfect for your short trip to work, and you’ll definitely learn something new while being entertained at the same time.

Know Nonsense Trivia Podcast: This podcast is very similar to a trivia night, where the two quiz-masters come together with their own questions and try to stump each other.  Episodes tend to be an hour in length or more, where the hosts are friends chatting with each other about their answers. They also throw in extra tidbits of knowledge and give out trivia how-to information. It’s definitely a more casual vibe then most of the other podcasts I’ve suggested, but I find it pretty entertaining and occasionally ridiculous (in a good way), and as a listener I feel like I’m participating in trying to answer questions.
