In relatively surprising news (at least for the podcast industry), former The Daily Show correspondent and The Nightly Show with Larry Wimore host comedian Larry Wilmore, is creating a podcast for The Ringer Podcast Network. Those who follow The Ringer or Bill Simmons know Wilmore has been a guest — and admitted fan — a couple times.
After rising through the ranks at The Daily Show and The Colbert Report, Comedy Central gave Wilmore his own late night show to discuss politics and current issues. However, in August of 2015 Comedy Central cancelled the show after two seasons.
Wilmore’s new podcast, Larry Wilmore: Black on the Air, is set to premier on May 11th with guest Norman Lear. The Ringer’s official announcement also lists Senator Bernie Sanders and astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson as future guests.
