Podcast Spotlight: It’s Not You, It’s Autoimmune

Get ready to battle your misconceptions about autoimmune diseases and be empowered to become immune competent! Hosted by Dr. Jocelyn Eberstein, head of the eCenter for Wellness, and guest host Anna Strong, this podcast is on a mission to help people get the information and tips they need to be healthy. Along with expert and sometimes celebrity guests, they discuss nutrition during the coronavirus pandemic, environmentalism, KETO, and more. Dr. Eberstein and Strong make this health information accessible because they believe being healthy is your birthright! They leave no stone unturned when interviewing their guests and listeners can even listen live and call in with their questions, getting immediate answers.

It’s Not You It’s Autoimmune is recommended for listeners who crave health knowledge and want to live a robust life. Taking care of your body, no matter what stage of life you’re in, will always be important. And remember, good health is just a podcast away!

DISCOVER PODS: How’d you get into podcasting?

EBERSTEIN: Totally by accident. I’ve always felt compelled to speak to the fact that health care in this country is really ‘sick care’ and with the advent of the COVID pandemic, I felt the need to shout about it.

DISCOVER PODS: Why should listeners tune in to It’s Not You, It’s Autoimmune?

EBERSTEIN: Automimmune disease is the 3rd largest killer in the country. 4 out 6 people have a chronic disease, and most of these are related to immune function; this includes cardiovascular disease, cancer, metabolic syndrome, thyroid (anyone with a low thyroid probably has an autoimmune issue)…the list is LONG. I’ve dealt with patients with these problems for years and have developed real solutions that I feel compelled to share.

DISCOVER PODS: What kind of feedback have you heard from your listeners?

EBERSTEIN: Typically, folks feel the value of what I talk about. Often, they are motivated to make sustainable changes and reach out for more information. One comment I’ve heard often is how they feel empowered to take charge of their health changed their lives.

DISCOVER PODS: Describe your recording set up?

EBERSTEIN: My podcast is on the UBNgo Network, so I utilize their studio setup to pre-record. With COVID, many of my guests have joined us via Zoom.

DISCOVER PODS: What’s the biggest challenge you face as an indie podcaster?

EBERSTEIN: Managing all the moving parts. People often don’t realize how much work goes into a podcast; it’s all hands-on deck between research, booking and coordinating with guests, building a following on social media, the finances…it’s a lot.

DISCOVER PODS: Where do you want to take your podcast?

EBERSTEIN: That’s simple…global!

DISCOVER PODS: What other podcasts are you listening to now?

EBERSTEIN: I’m not a serial listener. Running a clinic full time and dealing with patients doesn’t leave me with a lot of time to listen for pleasure. Most of the podcasts I catch are those geeky, deep science journal formats…mostly when doing research.

DISCOVER PODS: Anything else you’d like to add?

EBERSTEIN: A little advice to anyone thinking about starting a podcast: keep it simple. Find a format that works for you and don’t be afraid to change it up until it runs smoothly. And have fun!
