My Best Vintage Life is a quick-bite podcast covering all things vintage clothing. Each episode, host Bridget Marowski sits down with her listeners to discuss what she has learned from her years of fashion experience, including as a vintage buyer at Urban Outfitters, and how others can live their best vintage life. Episodes cover the care and keeping of fabrics, trends, clothes from vintage films, accessories, and even vintage that isn’t clothing! Seasoned vintage shoppers and first timers alike will learn something new each episode because Bridget is one of the most knowledgeable voices in the vintage space. She recognizes that vintage is about curating a unique wardrobe, but it is also about sustainability. She recommends greener options for cleaning leather, using a lint brush instead of a lint roller, and taking care of your clothing not only so you can enjoy it longer, but so you create less waste.

We were fortunate to talk with Marowski about the podcast, how they differentiate from other podcasts, and their future plans in podcasting. See below for our full Q&A.

DISCOVER PODS: How’d you get into podcasting?

MAROWSKI: I was featured on a podcast that was local to where I live – Fresno, California. Going into it, I knew that I wanted to pursue a podcast about vintage clothing and my job working with vintage wholesale. I arrived a little early to record and one of the hosts gave me a rundown on podcasting (equipment, software, etc.). I walked away with a hunger to make my own show!

DISCOVER PODS: In your own words, why should listeners tune in to My Best Vintage Life?

MAROWSKI: Listeners should tune into My Best Vintage Life to learn more about vintage clothing and fashion history. I have been working in the fashion industry for almost ten years and specifically with vintage for more than half of that time. My sometimes co-host and boss, Art Bazerkanian, has been working with vintage for over 20 years. On top of that I have and will be featuring more interview guests who own vintage shops and fashion industry members who have a passion for vintage. I present the info in a fun format that keeps the listener entertained while learning! This is not a perfection podcast: I swear, I sip my tea, and sometimes I have to tell my dog to go to sleep. I like keeping things human. 🙂

DISCOVER PODS: What kind of feedback have you heard from your listeners?

MAROWSKI: I am really lucky because so far my feedback has been very positive! I have very loyal listeners! I have had a few people comment that they normally don’t like “one-person” podcasts but I have changed that for them. I take that as a huge compliment mostly because I know how boring one-person podcasts can be if it isn’t the right person hosting the show.

DISCOVER PODS: Describe your recording set up? What equipment are you using?

MAROWSKI: In terms of my recording setup, I initially used a Blue Yeti USB mic and my iMac with Garageband. Pretty simple. I recently invested in a Rode Podcaster with two PodMics, and a new laptop! It has definitely been a learning process but I do feel that having great audio quality doesn’t have to cost a lot of money.

DISCOVER PODS: What’s the biggest challenge you face as an indie podcaster?

MAROWSKI: My biggest challenge as an indie podcaster is educating others about podcasts in general, but of course mine as well! A LOT of people still don’t know what podcasts are or how to listen. They want to support me but don’t know how! I try to use social media and screen records as a way to teach others how to maneuver throughout different podcast apps and leave ratings/reviews.

DISCOVER PODS: Where do you want to take your podcast?

MAROWSKI:  I want to build my podcast into a brand, and I already see that happening. My goal is to start an online learning platform for those who want to learn more about vintage. As of right now, no higher learning institutions offer a degree for vintage clothing. The closest you can get is museum preservation/curation and fashion history. I want to provide an outlet for those who want to learn more but don’t have endless time or money to spend on tuition. I also hope to write a book (or two, or three)!

DISCOVER PODS: What other podcasts are you listening to now?

MAROWSKI: Oh gosh, so many! My taste is very eclectic. I love The Goop Podcast and Leo Today by Parcast Network (it is a daily horoscope podcast). For paranormal vibes I listen to The Strange Sessions! I am a huge Anglophile so naturally I love podcasts related to The Royal Family including The Heir Pod and Pod Save the Queen. For a good laugh I listen to Bill Burr’s Monday Morning Podcast. I do love True Crime but needed to take a break as it was getting really heavy!

DISCOVER PODS: Anything else you’d like to add?

MAROWSKI: On top of the podcast, I offer goods for sale on my website that include vintage fashion history books as well as clothing and accessories that are made from vintage/deadstock elements. I also have a blog on my website that I just started to coincide with the podcast.
