World Sports Network (WSN) presents Prop Drop, your stop for sports chit chat and propositional (prop) bets. Ryan Sullivan, Adam Forsythe, and Alece Anderson cover prop bets from each major sports organization and discuss their own wins and losses. They talk Arnold Palmer Invitational, NFL free agency, March Madness, and even XFL. The three hosts have great chemistry, teasing one another for their biggest prop losses and talking through the odds of even the most outrageous prop. Each episode is interesting because prop bets on their own are interesting – betting on who will hit a golf ball into a lake on a specific hole or on how many baseball players will get accidentally hit while at-bat opens a whole new world to sports betting. Sports superfans and newcomers alike will get a hit out of their weekly release. Enjoy Prop Drop as a podcast, or head to the WSN website or YouTube to watch it being recorded.

We were fortunate to talk with Forsythe about the podcast, how they differentiate from other podcasts, and their future plans in podcasting. See below for our full Q&A.

DISCOVER PODS: How’d you get into podcasting?

FORSYTHE: We actually started the Green Men Podcast in 2010 and were extremely successful with it. We did one season. It was a short run but nobody was really in the podcast game yet so we were consistently in the Top 100 and were usually ranking ahead of Dan Patrick or Jim Rome. Sadly we didn’t keep that show going because the medium blew up shortly after we wrapped things. I then began The Week Ahead Podcast and The Rise with Jay DeMerit in 2017. We had a very successful run for two seasons. Media and broadcasting has always been a passion of ours and whether it be Radio, TV, web, print or podcasts we love talking sports with any and all engaged audiences.

DISCOVER PODS: In your own words, why should listeners tune in to WSN – Prop Drop?

FORSYTHE: The Prop Drop was a novel concept and great show when ever major sport was happening, but now it’s totally hit it’s rhythm. With no moneylines or point spreads going daily, the world needs obscure and innovative prop betting more than ever. We find the best ones on the net and deliver them weekly in a really fun, entertaining and conversational format.

DISCOVER PODS: What kind of feedback have you heard from your listeners?

FORSYTHE: This is going to sound staged, but I honestly haven’t seen any negative feedback come in yet. Mind you, were only seven episodes deep and you do of course get the guy chirping that lost a bet. For the most part though, people have really enjoyed the entertainment and the info we provide. We save them a ton of time and comb the net for them. I think people truly appreciate what we do.

DISCOVER PODS: Describe your recording set up? What equipment are you using?

FORSYTHE: This is definitely a Josh question. He’s our cameraman and production extraordinaire. I couldn’t tell you the lens types but I know we have four Canon Rebels on us each shoot with a great lighting rack high above to drown out Adam’s wrinkles. The set itself is a work of art as well. I have learned not wear navy on the show too. I had a dark blue shirt in an early episode and I looked like a floating head.

DISCOVER PODS: What’s the biggest challenge you face as an indie podcaster?

FORSYTHE: The hardest part of starting any podcast is finding your audience. It’s a difficult task because the market is pretty saturated. However, when it comes to sports betting, the competition is there but it’s not overly hefty. Thankfully between Alece, Adam, Josh, our production team and I we’re working with over 70 years of experience here. Most podcasts take time and seasoning. I think we’ve already found our niche and have hit our groove.

DISCOVER PODS: Where do you want to take your podcast?

FORSYTHE: I want to this podcast to challenge the ESPN’s and the Fox Sports’ of the world. What we’re delivering is sports bets influenced by sports news. Everything we cover is trending and in the headlines. We’re then going the extra mile and telling our viewers how they can capitalize on the latest and greatest and what the right play should be. We’re doing the world one hell of a service here (lol)!

DISCOVER PODS: What other podcasts are you listening to now?

FORSYTHE: I’m a comedy guy and if you can tie in some sports along with a Little Rock and roll even I’m hooked. Right now I’m going heavy on What’s the Odds with Steve Rannisizi, Spittin Chiclets, the Bill Burr Podcast and of course Green Men Radio (shameless self promotion). Hands down though, I don’t leave home without a little Prop Drop in the pocket.

DISCOVER PODS: Anything else you’d like to add?

FORSYTHE: I’d like to add that if you’re looking for a podcast out there or bets out there that suit your likes, we want it hear from you. Our show is a living format. It changes with what the audience wants and we tinker with our format all the time. We’d love to get your thoughts, answer your questions and hear your bets. Truly hope you give our show a shot. I honestly believe you’ll come back for seconds.
