Cheney’s style is reminiscent of talk radio hosts as he shares tips and tricks on being a libertarian and getting others to join the movement. The Michael Cheney Show gets political almost every episode, so it is best suited for political buffs. He warns and explores the way governments are stealing liberty from their citizens, whether it’s through exploiting COVID-19 restrictions, social media posts, or police stealing DNA records. Cheney also focuses on ways the little guy can still create his own wealth free from taxation. He has a free eBook for download on his website and is constantly sharing even more of his knowledge on each episode. It is informative, fun and great listening for lovers of liberty! DISCOVER PODS: How’d you get into podcasting?

CHENEY: The story starts back in 2000 when I walked away from a high-paying corporate office job because it was killing my soul and I started my
own internet business.

I worked hard and have been fortunate to make several million dollars
online in that time.

The government, however, took over half of this in taxation and I
sought ways to legally avoid this. The last straw came when my Dad
passed away and they taxed $185,000 from his Estate – this was money
he’d already paid tax on when he was alive and worked hard all his
life to save. My journey to anti-government libertarian was complete
and I knew I had to start a podcast to teach others how to fight
against big government, get more liberty and attain financial freedom.

DISCOVER PODS: In your own words, why should listeners tune in to The Michael Cheney Show?

CHENEY: I’m just an ordinary guy who believes you should be able to do
whatever you want as long as it doesn’t harm others. On the show I
uncover the latest rights-infringements by governments the world over
and discuss ways to spot, avoid and prevent government over-reach. I
delve beneath the mainstream headlines to uncover the real truth about
what’s happening in the world and how it is affecting your rights and
liberties.

DISCOVER PODS: What kind of feedback have you heard from your listeners?

CHENEY: Everyone that contacts me says they love the show (honestly!). It’s
testament to the preparation I put in – I usually devote a few hours
of research to each 20-minute episode.

I’ve had people tell me they never miss an episode. Lots of my
listeners listen on their morning commutes. It gives me a warm and
fuzzy feeling to know I can help spread the word of liberty in this
way.

DISCOVER PODS: Describe your recording set up? What equipment are you using?

CHENEY: I’m a techno dunce but I paid an expert to help me get set up so I use a Shure SM7B mic, Cloudlifter and Scarlett interface. I’ve also
covered my office in sound-proofing because I know sound quality is
super-important – I work for many hours researching each episode so I
want the quality of the sound to match the quality of the content.

DISCOVER PODS: What’s the biggest challenge you face as an indie podcaster?

CHENEY: Like all podcasters I’m always looking to grow my show. Fortunately, because I’ve been doing online stuff for twenty years, I do have an existing audience I can tap into. I have around 40,000 Facebook
followers, 3400 on Instagram and 4000 on Twitter so that definitely
helps.

DISCOVER PODS: Where do you want to take your podcast?

CHENEY: The show is edu-taining – a careful blend of education and
entertainment. I like to have fun while helping inform listeners about
the important liberty topics of the day and how to live a more free
life. I truly believe this show can positively impact and improve the
lives of a huge audience around the world.

DISCOVER PODS: What other podcasts are you listening to now?

CHENEY: I listen to lots of other libertarian podcasts though my favorite is
from my good friend Tom Woods, he helped my “see the light” as it
were, towards the path of liberty.

CHENEY: I’d like to think my show offers the little guy one of the only ways
left to create his own wealth and protect it against taxation, turmoil
and tyranny. 🙂
